A UNIFORM’S PRICE TAG: Sheriff details cost of outfitting a Lincoln County deputy

STANFORD – It takes a variety of pieces to put together a complete uniform for a sheriff’s deputy and for smaller sheriff’s departments like the one serving Lincoln County, those pieces together often have an expensive price tag. Each of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office’s paid deputies, seven who are full-time and one who is part-time, require a uniform that consists of several items. Aside from the standard shirt, pants, belt and shoes, which together cost about $305, deputies must also wear a vest ($500-550), gun belt ($300), gun ($500), taser ($800-1,000), hat ($80), badge ($100) and two sets of handcuffs ($60-100). Deputies also carry a flashlight and radio.
