Coming down the runway: American Airlines debuts new uniforms for 80,000 workers

American Airlines and US Airways have been operating as a single carrier since April of last year. But until now, the uniforms that more than 70,000 front-line employees wore — a mix of styles from both legacy airlines — didn’t necessarily reflect that.
That changed Tuesday with the introduction of newly designed uniforms that were in development nearly three years.

“It’s all of us coming together in one look as one brand and one company,” said Brady Byrnes, American’s director of global marketing. “I think it brings to light that this is a different company. It may be the same name, but our DNA is changing.”
