LOS ANGELES, CA – August 10, 2010 – Tukatech, Inc., a Los Angeles based provider of apparel industry software solutions, announces a successful software implementation as part of a new partnership with US garment manufacturer and retailer American Apparel.  “We chose Tukatech for their strong reputation as a leading technology provider, and have already seen savings of $4-5 million annually from implementing their software and consulting services,” said Dov Charney, Founder-CEO of American Apparel.

American Apparel is utilizing TUKAcad, Tukatech’s apparel CAD software, for product development and manufacturing.  Tukatech also provided American Apparel with manufacturing consulting to increase production and meet the demand of their 280 retail stores and e-commerce site. The company is now looking to further partner with Tukatech in the areas of 3D virtual prototyping and 3D design.

“Tukatech’s software allowed us to streamline our cutting room operations, save fabric costs, and increase efficiency in key product development areas.” explained Charney.  “With their amazing support, 24/7 availability, and easy-to-use software, we were able to see increases in production within weeks.  Now we plan to tap into Tukatech’s 3D systems to extend our design capabilities and experiment in ways we never thought possible.”

American Apparel is also utilizing SMARTmark, a TUKAcad module, for marker making processes.  SMARTmark works automatically to produce markers in minutes that minimize the use of fabric.  The software can also queue many markers at a time, do ratio or single-size markers, use bump lines to control markers on fabric with shade variations, calculate yields, create sharable reports, and much more.

American Apparel produces over 1 million garments a week. However, with increasing demand here and abroad, in stores and on the web, there was a need to increase production efficiency.

“The key to our success with American Apparel, as with all our clients, is not just our innovative products, but our thorough and strategic implementation process. We work tirelessly to evaluate, plan, and re-engineer core processes to maximize our clients’ ROI,” says Ram Sareen, CEO-Founder TUKAgroup. “We look forward to helping them even further with the implementation of our 3D systems.”
