PRNewswire/ -- Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc., a leading supplier of innovative computer products including peripherals, biometric security solutions and digital media solutions, today announced a strategic partnership with Positek RFID to integrate the Fujitsu WT-A511 UHF-Band RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags into Positek RFID's comprehensive garment tracking solutions and to expand the usage of the Fujitsu tag through their extensive customer and reseller network. The integration of the Fujitsu UHF RFID tag will help customers in the hospitality, textile maintenance and garment/linen rental industries more quickly, accurately and cost-effectively monitor their inventories. Fujitsu is available to discuss the Positek partnership and demonstrate its cutting-edge UHF RFID tags during the RFID Journal Live! show, April 14-16, 2010 in Orlando, Fla. at the Orange County Convention Center (booth #643).

"With nearly 100 customers using our solutions across 140 different facilities, Positek RFID is the established leader for providing RFID technology to textile maintenance companies. Our customers expect  the best offerings from Positek, so it is essential that we continue to enhance our offerings by partnering with leading technology providers like Fujitsu," said Jeff Markman, president of Positek RFID, the largest supplier of RFID solutions to the textile maintenance industry in North America. "The new Fujitsu UHF RFID tags offer a clear upgrade to existing solutions, and our customers will realize tremendous benefits from the ability to scan entire cartloads of soiled and clean textiles. This includes increased efficiency, a higher degree of accuracy and reductions in operational costs as well as the cost of replacing missing items."

The soft and flexible Fujitsu UHF RFID tags are extremely durable. They are able to withstand hundreds of washings, the harsh chemicals associated with dry cleaning, temperatures of 250 degrees Fahrenheit for drying and autoclave systems, 400 degrees Fahrenheit for ironing, and the pressure of uniform pressing machines. UHF RFID systems are capable of scanning hundreds of articles simultaneously in seconds with a reading range of up to six feet. The Fujitsu UHF RFID tags represent a significant cost-saving solution compared to bar codes and other RFID systems, which require single garment processing. In addition, the soft and flexible Fujitsu UHF RFID tag is less than two inches long—about the size of a shirt stay. When sewn or heat-sealed into garments, the unobtrusive tags are virtually unnoticeable.

"In the hospitality, garment rental and industrial laundry industries, traditional inventory monitoring processes are a potential liability as they are typically inaccurate, inefficient and costly. The new Fujitsu UHF RFID tags represent a technology breakthrough that addresses these challenges and provides customers with a cost-effective, viable solution to more accurately monitor their inventory," said Vic Herring, vice president of sales and business development, Advanced Technology Group, Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc. "We look forward to working with Positek RFID to help its customers implement the Fujitsu UHF RFID tags within their systems to help improve efficiency, increase accuracy and lower costs as more and more organizations take advantage of the leading-edge solutions that Positek RFID and Fujitsu can now offer."
