EAST LIVERPOOL – For the first time in at least 35 years, city police officers are wearing a new style of uniform designed to look professional and be more comfortable.
The new navy blue, short-sleeved shirts unveiled Monday are quite different from the light blue shirts officers have worn for decades.
Patrolman Don Fickes recollected wearing the light blue shirt his entire 35 years with the department, although photos from the 1940s and 1960s indicate darker shirts may have been the norm in those days.
