Leading laundry executives who process nearly 90 percent of all soiled healthcare linens in North America attended TRSA’s Annual Healthcare Conference today in San Diego and were introduced to the association’s Linen Loss Prevention web portal and new animation video for helping healthcare customers reduce linen loss instances. Linen loss costs the healthcare industry an estimated $840 million annually.
The new portal offers industry best practices for better linen management, information on textile cleaning and certifications for hygienically clean laundries. It also hosts a short animation video that illustrates areas of linen loss in healthcare organizations and some of the available tools to help reduce the related cost of linen loss.
“Linen loss is a critical issue for healthcare organizations trying to balance patient care with regulatory and financial priorities,” says Joseph Ricci, president and CEO of the 102-year-old international trade association. “It’s a costly but correctable problem every healthcare organization faces. Our online resources are user-friendly, practical and can help begin the process of getting these costs under control.”
TRSA introduced the new web portal and video to attendees as part of its ongoing strategy to provide members with actionable intelligence and resources to improve their customers’ bottom lines. TRSA also updated its members-only infection control resources, providing the latest guidance and resources related to blood-born pathogens in the wake of the U.S. Ebola health scare.
More than 175 textile services laundries and suppliers responsible for processing the most of the soiled linen in North America attended the two-day conference. Sessions focused on clinical trends, infection control, regulation, laundry technology and materials management, among others.
