The budget carrier's pilots and ground staff will also sport more fashionable uniforms, part of an overall branding exercise for its 900-plus employees to mark its seventh year in operation. It also reflects the airline's move to distance itself from rival no-frills carriers in Thailand, at least from the public's perspective. Pinyot Pibulsonggram, the vice-president for sales and marketing, says the uniform design attempts to underscore two main company traits - professionalism and friendliness. The uniforms - especially for the attendants, who receive greater public exposure than the other personnel - will be more chic with a more mature look, he said. The airline has chosen to carry over the basic elements of Nok Air's cabin uniform, a one-piece, loose-fitting dress in lively yellow. But changes include dark outlines for the sleeves and collars, along with a cloth belt that ties into a bow in the back, thereby rendering a Korean feel. Mr Pinyot said it was not easy for the airline's design team to come up with improvements, as the current uniforms still look modern and vibrant.
