Mathews County Sheriff’s Office purchases new uniforms

Deputies with the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office will soon be seen wearing new tan and black uniforms, as opposed to the traditional brown.
The uniforms and other accessories were purchased using drug asset forfeiture funding awarded to the sheriff’s office by the state from drug investigations with the Tri-Rivers Drug Task Force, according to Sheriff Mark Barrick.

The uniforms include vest carriers to make wearing body armor more comfortable, Barrick said. Deputies will also be given new hats and dress uniform jackets for formal events, as well as pants and polo shirts for casual uses.
