NAUMD Names Best Dressed Public Safety Departments for 2017

NASHVILLE, Tenn.–The North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers & Distributors (NAUMD) today announced the winners of its 2017 Best Dressed Public Safety Awards. Developed to recognize the vital role uniforms play in law enforcement and public safety, the awards honor both the departments and suppliers of the uniform program.

“Officers and first responders are an icon of safety, and their uniforms are a critical component of making them recognizable and approachable to the public,” said Neal Waters, President, NAUMD. “Looking and feeling great go hand-in-hand, so it’s important for safety professionals to feel comfortable and confident on the job. This award celebrates the manufacturers, law enforcement departments and first responders that go the extra mile to create versatile, functional and stylish uniforms that represent public safety professionals.”

Winners of the 2017 NAUMD Best Dressed Public Safety Awards include:

  • Departments with Less Than 100 Officers: Metroparks of the Toledo Area in Ottawa Hills, Ohio by Superior Uniform Sales, Inc.
    Departments with 100-500 Officers: South Salt Lake City Police Department in Salt Lake City, Utah by Fechheimer Brothers Company
    Departments with 500+ Officers: Bexar County Sheriff’s Office in San Antonio, Texas by Galls
    Departments with 100-500 First Responders: Lake Travis Fire-Rescue in Austin, Texas by Red the Uniform Tailor and Orlando Fire Department in Orlando, Fla. by Red the Uniform Tailor
    The Best Dressed Public Safety Awards program emphasizes the value of professional, sleek, well-suited and easily recognizable uniforms in the role of public safety. The award highlights the industry’s uniform professionals who are committed to providing law enforcement agencies with innovative, functional and unique apparel that exceeds standards and expectations.

The 2017 NAUMD winners were determined by a panel of fashion industry experts, awarding points for application of new technology, originality, meeting client objectives and the overall design.
