Now arriving: Southwest Airlines debuts it first uniform redesign in 20 years

Southwest Airlines’ first totally new uniform design in 20 years is taking to the skies this week, with employees from the ramp to the cabin getting a more modern look.

The design of the new uniforms took nearly three years and was driven by a team of 43 employees from across the company working with Ohio-based manufacturer Cintas. The uniform launch comes several years after Southwest refreshed its overall brand and launched a new cabin interior for its jets.

“We changed our brand overall and our planes to have a little bit more bold and modern look. We wanted the uniform to match that,” said Sonya Lacore, Southwest’s vice president of in-flight operations.
