Clothing maker Daniel Evans and his label Domestic Workwear will launch with original styles of heavy-duty work clothes for men and women - to include pants, work shirts and coats - made in the city of Chicago from American textiles. This first look event begins 8pm at The Hollywood Lounge in Northwest Chicago (3301 W Bryn Mawr) on January 18. Music from Names Divine, Quicksails, Ryley Walker, Murdertron 4000 and the DJs of Stripped and Chewed Records will soundtrack the celebration.

The event will feature racks of men's and women's work clothes for sale, with private changing areas and free hand & foot warmers plus a photo-booth to help illustrate just how handsome rugged workwear can be.

About Domestic Workwear: "I started this label while working for a moving company," says Mr. Evans, originally from Staunton, Virginia. "I was sick of busting through cheap work pants." The expensive, name brand clothes at his favorite farm-and-fleet were now outsourced and it felt wrong to buy work clothes that weren't American made. He researched the state of rustbelt manufacturing to discover just how hard the US apparel businesses has been hit over the past four decades.

Along the way, he learned that there are enough resources and know-how in Chicago to make great clothes. "Why not make work clothes that are strong, comfortable and unassuming, but keep the jobs here, pay the people who make them better, and keep the money in the area?" He began with the successful "Sweetbutter Series" of men's work pants and has since developed women's pants, work shirts and Plain People-inspired men's coats.
