This year World Emblem of Mexico passed Sumerra’s social compliance audit with a perfect score in every department. Sumerra is a worldwide auditing company whose purpose is to ensure safe conditions, workers’ rights and environmental stewardship; focusing on the needs of Brands, Factories, Licensees, and other Associations who are striving to improve working conditions and reduce risks throughout the world.
This audit makes sure that World Emblem complies with all the domestic rules and some specific U.S. law requirements, all related with the health, safety and work conditions of the employees.
Sumerra’s audit consists of three main parts:
1) Installation inspection: Verification that the location complies with all health and safety regulations.
2) Work conditions and documentation: The auditor requests employees information for different dates in the previous 12 months (payroll receipts; employees files, medical conditions / records, etc.) and validates all payments and deductions are done according to the law.
3) Personnel interviews: The auditor chooses randomly which employees will be interviewed and questions on overall work conditions, opinions, comments and complaints on the way they are treated and taken care of at World Emblem.
The results were a big accomplishment especially since the World Emblem of Mexico had recently moved the entire location to a new larger facility.
