British Airways is planning to move upmarket again after the pandemic. It was reported that its executives are working on exciting changes, come June, and is also touted to be a major evolution for the airlines.

It was revealed that, over the next 12 months, significant upgrades will be made to catering, airport lounges, boarding systems, and cabin crew uniforms.

The changes include, new digital ordering system for in-flight meals for short-haul economy flights. Long haul passengers from the premium cabins will be served gourmet food prepared by chefs in kitchens next to the runways in Heathrow.

The new cabin crew uniforms will be designed by Savile Row tailor Ozwald Boateng. A flat-bed seats with doors to the aisle will also be installed in the business class aircrafts.

The changes are being overseen by the British Airways’ new boss, Sean Doyle, in a bid to remove the predecessors accusation of bringing the airways to down market by competing with budget airlines like Ryan Air.

Doyle said, ‘Over the course of the pandemic, we are innovating and we are doing everything we can to make sure that when the customers come back to us, we are ready and they will have a great experience.’

‘What you are seeing now is that [investment] coming out. Now we just need to keep building on it. And now we have this momentum to deliver it. Exciting things will start coming from June onwards.’
