DuPont and CWS Workwear have announced an expansion of their long-standing partnership to develop personal protective equipment that is fully bio-based and free from PFAS chemicals.
The collaboration focuses on improving safety, comfort, and sustainability in PPE used across demanding industrial environments.
A Decade-Long Collaboration
DuPont and CWS Workwear have worked together for more than ten years to develop innovative fabrics and finishes that meet strict safety standards while improving wearer comfort.
Hartmut Engler, CEO of CWS Workwear, said the partnership supports the company’s goal of delivering protective clothing that balances high performance with environmental responsibility.
New Workwear Collections in Development
The expanded partnership includes the development of new multifunctional workwear collections for industries such as chemical processing, engineering, and energy.
These collections will incorporate advanced textiles and protective coatings designed to provide high levels of protection while reducing chemical exposure.
Introducing a Bio-Based, PFAS-Free Finish
A key part of the collaboration is the application of DuPont’s Nomex Comfort EcoForce finish. The treatment is bio-based and PFAS-free and will be used across CWS Workwear’s multifunctional protection range.
The new products are scheduled to launch in early 2026 and are designed to combine strong protective performance with sustainability considerations.
Showcased at A+A Trade Fair
The companies recently presented their latest developments at the A+A trade fair in Düsseldorf. Demonstrations included new fibre systems and live PPE performance testing, showing how the technology translates into real-world safety and comfort.
CWS Group’s Broader Growth
CWS Workwear operates as part of CWS Group, a provider of solutions across hygiene, workwear, and fire safety.
In recent years, CWS Group has expanded through acquisitions, including Specialised Sterile Environments and Service Matters Limited in Ireland, as well as BERNET in Switzerland. These additions have strengthened the group’s capabilities across workwear, cleanroom services, healthcare, and hygiene.
