Ford and Carhartt Announce Multi Year Partnership Supporting the Essential Economy

Ford Motor Company and Carhartt have announced a multi-year strategic partnership aimed at strengthening the Essential Economy through workforce development, community investment, and durable workwear solutions.

The partnership was formally announced at the Detroit Auto Show and builds on a relationship that dates back more than a century, with Carhartt supplying workwear for Ford factory workers as early as the 1920s.

Focus on Workforce Development and Skilled Trades

A central pillar of the partnership is support for the next generation of skilled tradespeople, particularly automotive technicians. Ford will continue its fast-track training initiatives through partnerships with high schools and community colleges, while Carhartt will outfit future cohorts of Ford Auto Tech Scholars with custom workwear.

Ford Philanthropy and Ford dealers will also expand support for the program through partnerships with the TechForce Foundation, helping cover tools, credentialing fees, and transportation costs for students.

Community Investment Through ToolBank

As part of the collaboration, Ford and Carhartt are bringing ToolBank USA to Detroit. The nonprofit provides tools for community revitalization, trade education, and disaster relief.

The Detroit ToolBank, set to open next month, will serve as both a tool-lending hub and a training resource, supporting more than 5,000 volunteers and providing access to approximately 25,000 tools annually. Ford will contribute an F-150 equipped with Pro Power Onboard to help extend ToolBank’s reach across Southeast Michigan.

New Workwear Program for Dealership Technicians

In late 2025, Ford and Carhartt, in collaboration with uniform provider Cintas, launched a new workwear program for dealership technicians. The program includes durable shirts, pants, jackets, sweatshirts, footwear, and accessories designed for the demands of modern service bays.

Dealerships can choose between a managed workwear program, where uniforms are cleaned, inspected, and repaired through Cintas, or a direct purchase option. The program is available in both men’s and women’s sizes and is supported by Cintas’ nationwide service network.

Co-Branded Products and Special Edition Truck

The partnership also includes new co-branded merchandise and a special edition Super Duty Carhartt truck scheduled for release later this year.

Inspired by Carhartt’s Detroit heritage, the vehicle design reflects shared values of durability, craftsmanship, and local pride. Additional details about the truck and related products are expected to be announced in the coming months.
