Iberia Airlines Rolling Out New uniforms for its Crew
Nearly 7000 ground and flight crew members of Spanish company Iberia Airlines to get new work uniforms. The stylish and sophisticated uniform is designed by renowned designer Teresa Helbig, the first woman to design Iberia clothing options.

Iberia, the Spanish airline, a few weeks ago, unveiled new uniforms that its flight crew and ground staff will wear from June this year. These new uniforms were introduced, in conjunction with the introduction of a new meal service onboard Iberia flights. Let’s look into it further.

Iberia Airlines Uniform represents a team that is dedicated, professional, and talented

According to a member of the International Airlines Group (IAG), the new uniforms are “a sophisticated, elegant, and functional outfit displaying a natural balance between the hallmarks of Teresa Helbig’s designs and the current image of the airline.”

With the new uniform, the airline completes the rebranding process that began in 2013 and highlights its renewed and current image. The uniform’s color palette is limited to navy blue, ecru, and the identifying colors of Iberia: red and yellow.

The new collection includes twenty garments such as dresses, skirts, pants, blouses, and coats, as well as several accessories such as ties, scarves, gloves, and bags. These uniforms will be worn by employees in the nearly 140 destinations served by Iberia’s fleet across 43 countries.

Teresa Helbig is the first woman to design an Iberia uniform, and she joins a long line of Spanish courtiers who have contributed their talents and skills to the design of the airline’s uniforms since 1952. Teresa Helbig stated that she does not see these garments as mere uniforms, but rather as comfortable, functional, and flattering garments.

I want them to feel handsome, favored, empowered and proud to wear us,” says Helbig.

The process has taken nearly a decade but has allowed Iberia to consolidate “our modernity, dynamism, and spirit of innovation in the 21st century.” The dress will become the uniform’s iconic garment; a garment designed to be both comfortable and sophisticated. Grosgrain ribbons, red and yellow accents, and gold-tone zippers add sophistication and character to the design without compromising mobility”.

A premium ‘in the air’

Gema Juncá , Director of Brand & Marketing of Iberia commented: “the new uniform is a key part of our brand, a sign of identity that reinforces our commitment to fashion and the values of Spanish culture. We want our employees to feel proud to wear it and to represent Iberia”.

As novelties, the uniform includes low shoes (without heels) and a piece as current and functional as sports shoes, as well as a feather vest as an alternative to the male coat and a new design on the neck of the knitwear that includes a corporate detail on the sleeve to add energy to the look.

The press release also noted that ”Aesthetics and design prevail above all, seeking a balance between functionality and beauty. We have created this proposal out of emotion because flying and designing are very similar: both try to materialize dreams. We have not thought of these pieces as mere uniforms, but as garments that, in addition to being comfortable and functional, are flattering and maintain their style and elegance over the years.”

The airline’s splashy launch started out of their Madrid base in June, then rolled out at various Iberia stopovers throughout the rollout phase.
