Mcdonald’s unveiled its new Employee Uniforms and about 77,000 items of clothing were produced for more than 8500 employees

The fast-food chain, Mcdonald’s will for the first time change its employee uniform since 2009, designed by fashion designer Katty Xiomara.

The uniforms were unveiled in June at McDonald’s in Campo Grande, Lisbon, where 11 employees from across the country paraded in front of guests.

“We consider it essential that our employees feel good about what they wear, not only for comfort and functionality but also in terms of identity. Therefore, it is a wonderful thing for us to update the uniforms of our more than 8,500 employees in Portugal, recognizing the importance of these garments in their day-to-day tasks and how they impact their work experience. at McDonald’s.’’ said Sofia Mendoça, Director of Human Resources at McDonald’s Portugal.

‘At the same time, this project reiterates our commitment to recognizing and promoting national talent, creating an opportunity for young fashion designers to showcase their work,’ she added.

To start this project, a satisfaction survey was first conducted among McDonald’s employees regarding the current uniforms and expectations they had for the new uniforms, says the company.

Criteria like design, modernity, and comfort, among others, were taken into account. The results are uniformly suitable for every function in the restaurant: employee, trainer, public relations, and manager.

McDonald’s Portugal New Uniforms

The new uniform is one of the company’s schemes this year to inject fresh energy into the workplace culture as the fast-food giant aims at strengthening the connection between employees. The company will also seek this opportunity to mark 30 years of business in Portugal, as Sofia Mendoça said in an interview with Pessoas in April. The new Uniforms will have a range of colors where yellow and blue denim predominate.

“We will have a big celebration that will start with the launch of the new uniforms in the middle of the year. We will celebrate 30 years in Portugal, which we could not do last year, with a big party, with all the managers and people on the front line. Later in the year, we will have a national convention with all those people so that we can align our plans for the future. Then they will be more departmental, ” Mendoza Pessoas added.

They wore a Portuguese design by Catia Abreu and Melanie Melo – winners of the competition launched by McDonald’s Portugal, in partnership with CITEVE (Technology Center for the Textile and Clothing Industries in Portugal) – for young national designers and design and fashion students – and were produced with fabrics by the Portuguese company HR Group, supplier of McDonald’s uniforms since 2014.
