‘P.E. Nation and Virgin Australia have launched a VERY luxe new winter uniform for cabin crew called the ‘Tassie tux.’

P.E. Nation has joined forces with Airline Virgin Australia to launch New Uniforms

P.E. Nation, the activewear empire, has partnered with Virgin Australia to launch cozy uniforms for staff and cabin crew to wear during the winter.

Pip Edwards and Claire Tregoning of Sydney co-founded the multi-million-dollar brand, which will dress employees working on flights bound for Tasmania.

The limited-edition clothing includes a black hooded bomber jacket and a sleeveless high-neck puffer vest made entirely of recycled fabric.

The latest piece dubbed the ‘Tassie tux’ is meant to be worn over Virgin Australia’s signature red dresses or black trousers and shirts, and will complement the overall look.

‘Function and comfort are key to our daily lives, and the black puffer jacket is a staple in everyone’s wardrobe,’ Ms. Edwards said.

Co-founder Claire Tregoning added how the pieces are centered around a ‘sporty puffer jacket – an essential part of the Tassie wardrobe’.

“We always wanted to partner with an airline because travel is so much a part of our brand and a lot of what our label is about connects people to places and the outdoors. This is a dream come true for us,” says Tregoning

“Aligning with Virgin Australia made sense to us because they have a progressive customer mindset which we love, and they’re all about embracing the sustainability program, which we are also committed to doing with the product we make,” adds Tregoning.

The puffer jacket and vest are quintessentially the P.E. Nation in their mission to do better in fashion, made from recycled polyester and fitted with metal trims and recycled labels. According to Virgin Australia’s chief marketing officer Libby Minogue, it made sense to partner with an Australian fashion label who share a common vision for saving the planet.

“They’re sustainable, fashion conscious, on-trend and energetic – we have that energy in common,” says Minogue.

The cabin crew will find the winter essential useful when walking across the tarmac during the off-season commute, rather than in mid-flight.

The uniform will only be worn by cabin crew and airline employees during the winter off-season.

For now, the P.E Nation uniform pieces are strictly reserved for staff, but according to Minogue they’re working out the logistics of making them available for purchase.

“We’ve had such great feedback about the jackets which have been amazing,” Minogue says. “And right now, we’re working out what we can do next so watch this space.”

Virgin Australia has posted a YouTube video showcasing their new winter jackets.

This is likely to be another victory for the athletics brand, which has grown in popularity in recent years, with over 600 stockists worldwide. The founders are currently looking to expand internationally, with plans to open the first US office.
