Procter & Gamble plans to eliminate phosphates from all its professional and commercial laundry detergents over the next two years. The change will apply globally to all P&G brands, such as Tide, Ariel, Ace and Bonux.

The switch to phosphate-free formulae has already begun and has been implemented in products such as Ariel Formula Pro+ in the P&G Professional commercial range, says Gianni Ciserani, group president of global fabric and home care.

“We’re committed to helping businesses manage their environmental footprint,” he said and added: “We aim to bring the rest of our P&G Professional products in line with the phosphate-free professional and consumer ranges before the end of 2015.”
