Ocado pilot aims to tackle UK’s mountain of old staff uniforms

Online supermarket Ocado has announced a new program to recycle old staff uniforms into designer clothes and bags, as part of a newly launched partnership with environmental social enterprise Hubbub.

The project aims to go some way to addressing the 30 million pieces of corporate uniform unnecessarily thrown away each year.

“We hope offices, warehouses, shops and factories throughout the UK will recognise the scale of this environmental problem and see that by treating their old uniforms as a useful resource they can find creative solutions that build not only environmental benefits but social and financial ones too,” said Trewin Restorick, founder of Hubbub, in a statement.
