NEWBURYPORT, Mass. — Massachusetts-based 1620 Workwear which produces American-made and American-sourced workwear apparel launched utility shorts that is designed to last 10 times longer than its competitors.

The Utility Short which is priced at $128 is a design that’s popular with landscapers and other workers. its proprietary stretch NYCO (nylon-cotton) fabrics provide full mobility, protection, and breathability.

It is also water and grease-repellent, and abrasion-resistant to protect from rough weather and surfaces. The shorts are designed for modern fit and comes with multiple utility pockets for tools and essentials.

The company is currently focusing on minimizing waste by manufacturing workwear that is more durable and lasts 10 times longer than their competitors. To further minimize wastage, they also have a program in place to provide second and third life to worn clothes by recycling them.

“Workers live in their clothes and are conditioned to throwing them away after a short time on the job,” said Josh Walker, cofounder. “We’re finding success in the value that workers put on durability, comfort, and performance. It’s worth investing more upfront for a product that is going to comfort and keep you safe at work for years.

“Durability and sustainability go hand-in-hand,” he adds. “We have a responsibility to protect workers and our environment. It’s a new mindset in the workwear category but our continued growth gives us confidence that we’re going in the right direction.”
