Behind the ‘Uniform’

“What is it about the power of the uniform that we either resist or admire?”

“What is it about the uniform that we embrace or fear?”

“Who are these people that wear the uniform?”

These are the questions local artist Mira Cantor seeks to answer in “Uniform,” her exhibit of life-sized portraits of police officers—many of them from Jamaica Plain’s E-13 Police Station.

The charcoal drawings depict the officers from head to toe in full uniform.
