Savile Row tailor, Ozwald Boateng, has recently revealed that British Airways will be provided with gender-neutral uniforms for its staff as part of the company’s centenary celebrations, which could ultimately encourage more female flight attendants to substitute their navy-blue skirts for trousers.

According to an insider within the company, “The new trousers are designed to be more appealing to women.”

Female flight attendants were only allowed to wear trousers in 2016 for British Airways, and strict rules are required makeup and ladder-free tights for women.

Boatend is expected to reveal the new uniform designs for all 32,000 British Airway staff members this upcoming fall.

Those who will be wearing the uniform – engineers, ground crew, baggage-handlers, etc – will speak on how they uniform looks and feels.

“What works for men also works for women. It’s about choice for everyone, wearing what they want so they are most comfortable.” The 52-year-old designer told The Mail on Sunday.
