When Monica Hoiland got a job several years ago in the school lunch program, she didn’t have the required uniforms to wear.

“Of course when you start a new job, you don’t have the money to go out and buy brand new uniforms,” she said.

Today, the 47-year-old entrepreneur has opened a consignment shop dedicated to new and used uniform sales. She’s sticking with medical uniforms and some accessories, including shoes, but it’s the same uniforms used by school lunch workers, she said.

Nearly New Barely Used is open Tuesday through Saturday at 801 N. Cliff Ave., next door to her husband’s business, Dan’s Scooters.

Her store is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Prices for tops range from $3 to $10, depending on condition. She carries various name brands and colors.
