Conservation officers and forest rangers were recently provided with new uniforms so the public can more easily differentiate Department of Natural Resources employees who have different functions.

Conservation officers are armed and their duties include enforcement/compliance patrols; conducting investigations; apprehending violators; performing searches; collecting and seizing evidence; managing violation files; appearing as a Crown witness in any resulting court cases.

Forest rangers duties include monitoring forestry operations; forest fire management; working on fish and wildlife management programs; responding to nuisance wildlife and animals killed on roadways; responding to environmental issues and land tenure inspections; hunter education and firearm safety programs.
