Fliers traveling on Delta Air Lines Inc. or Northwest-branded flights this week might be surprised to see some flight attendants sporting vintage uniforms from long-extinct carriers such as Western Airlines and Pan American World Airways.
Through Sunday, Delta has invited flight attendants on domestic flights to wear retired versions of Delta and Northwest uniforms, as well as outfits from carriers that were eventually absorbed — completely or in part — into Delta or Northwest. The two airlines are themselves in the midst of a lengthy merger that will create the world’s largest carrier.
