India – Asgar Ali (28) of Nasidipur village in Kendrapara town is very popular with the police, private security guards and hotel owners.
Reason: He decorates their dresses with embroidered badges and paraphernalia. Police, home guards, private security guards, crew members of ships, hotel employees and staff of private companies are his customers. Asgar is not alone. At least 30 persons of his village, including women and girls, are into making of decorative badges and insignias.
Nasidipur village has earned a name for its fine embroidery work which is stitched by few minority community members. The 10 families of a unique Muslim clan are masters of brocade art.
