Not only will chefs be able to stand the heat, but they’ll remain cool and comfortable while working in blazing hot kitchens, thanks to a new line of professional culinary apparel unveiled this week by Chef Works, Inc.

The Next Generation of CoolTM, Chef Works’ new line of apparel, features the company’s trademark Cool VentTM design and will keep chefs looking and feeling their best all day whether they work in Aruba, Bahrain, The United States or anywhere in between.

“The watchword for our new products is ‘light,’” said Clive Gross, president of Chef Works, Inc.  “Light garments are more comfortable to wear every day in the kitchen where the temperature soars, but still offers the protection that chef clothes were originally designed for.”

The new line includes stylish chef coats, kitchen shirts, pants and headwear.  They were designed with innovative features such as panels of moisture-wicking fabric across the back and shoulders and circulation vents that let perspiration out and cool air in.  Chef Works’ new professional series pants are lighter and more comfortable.

The new line is the result of five years of research and development by Chef Works, including surveys of leading chefs from countries around the world.  Chefs who responded said they want apparel that allows them freedom of movement, made of light-weight fabrics to help them keep cool while working long shifts in hot, crowded and busy commercial kitchens.

“Top Domestic and International chefs spoke, and we listened,” said Chef Works CEO Dale Gross.  “The Next Generation of Cool represents a natural evolution of apparel for culinary professionals based on the latest technology in design and fabrics.”

The new chef coats are available in black and white, in traditional full sleeve,  short sleeve, and three-quarter-sleeve versions.  The poly-cotton twill fabric is lightweight, providing maximum comfort to food service workers, along with the toughness and durability to hold up under daily use and frequent laundering. 100% Egyptian Cotton Cool Vent Jackets and Short Sleeve Executive Styles are also included in the Next Generation of Cool line.

As part of the Next Generation of Cool, Chef Works is introducing its new Signature Series, a higher-end chef’s coat in a cotton dominant blended fabric.  The Signature Series coats also include Cool Vent design features such as moisture management fabric, center box pleat in the back and inset collar sweat band.

Chef Works uses a 60-percent cotton, 40-percent polyester blended fabric for its Signature Series chefs’ coats, making them cool and light, and giving them a feel like 100 percent cotton.  The polyester component gives the garment longevity and stability.

“The objective is to have the most comfortable chef coats in every classification, from the most affordable, basic coats to the higher-end Signature Series, with no compromise on the quality of fabrics at any level,” said Clive Gross.  “We are coming out with a lot of great fabrics.”

In February, Chef Works’ Cool Vent products won the 2009 UNIVATOR award For Uniform Product Innovation. Uniform Market News said, “the Chef Works Signature Series takes the chef coat, and the industry, to the next level.”

To celebrate the release of the Next Generation of Cool, the company will give away a free trip for two, to Alaska.  To register for a chance to win the trip, or learn more about the new line, log onto www.chefworks.com/cool .
