As part of their commitment to finding a sustainable tourism plan, Club Med has announced that it will introduce a special collection of uniforms that include polos, dresses, and caps for its staff made entirely from recycled plastics.

The hospitality industry has made strong efforts in being environmentally conscious by eliminating single-use plastics and focusing more on recycling programs and solar energy.

By creating environment friendly uniforms, Club Med is also reducing energy usage by finding a better use for plastic waste. Recycled plastic uniforms require 40 percent less energy during production compared to regular polyester uniforms.

“The decision to create new staff uniforms made out of recycled plastic is one of the many initiatives that Club Med is enacting to continue to grow its sustainability efforts,” the company said. “Throughout its history, Club Med has been dedicated to creating happy memories for guests from all over the world, but not at the expense of others or the environment.”

In order to create this special collection of uniforms, Club Med used more than 200,000 plastic bottles that have already been recycled.

The collection of attire is set to debut in 2020 and be deployed across all nine of Club Med’s North American/Caribbean resorts.

For travelers who want to get their hands on this collection of clothing made out of recycled plastic, the uniforms will also be available at select Club Med boutiques for purchasing.
