Schoeller Technologies has been awarded with the Textile Design Award 2009 for research and development in textile sector. coldblack® is the result of a close cooperation between Schoeller and Clariant International.

“coldblack® represents a practically invisible but enormously useful design achievement,” said juror Daniel Zehntner. “One that deserves to be known and recognised in the highest degree. The twofold protective function of this innovative high-tech textile treatment is a technical masterstroke with extensive practical relevance in the fields of design and preventive health care”. coldblack® is a new textile finishing with a double benefit: It reduces the absorption of solar rays so that dark textiles, in particular, heat up significantly less when exposed to sunlight. And it provides reliable protection from damaging UV rays. All textiles with coldblack® feature a UV protection factor of at least 30. “This award is the third within one year”, states Hans U. Kohn, COO from Schoeller Technologies. Thomas Winkler, Head Textile Business from Clariant, confirms, “Within short time, we have recorded a large number of manufacturing partners that are developing products with coldblack®.” coldblack® is ideal for all types of clothing worn in sunny weather. Currently, tests are being conducted for car seats and garden furniture.
