Magnamind Ventures opened Kerala’s first large scale industrial laundry at Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA)’s Small Industries Park in Nellad, near Muvattupuzha in Ernakulam district according to a report in Economic Times.

The 15-tonnes-per-day integrated laundry is also the largest of its kind in south India. The 20,000 sq ft laundry complex, equipped with modern imported machinery, would mainly cater to the long standing demands of Kerala’s bourgeoning hospitality industry in and around Kochi, Munnar and Kumarakom, Sreejith Narendran, Managing Director, Magnamind Ventures stated.

Magnamind Ventures will also pioneer into linen rentals for the first time in the country, a practice prevalent in the West. The company also has a retail division, which will have collection points initially in Kochi and Thrissur. This will be spread to other parts of the region in the very near future stated the report.

Magnamind has three divisions -Linen Lounge, Centralim and Allure. Linen Lounge is for mainstream laundry services targeted to launder bed, bath, F&B, uniform and valets of hotels; uniforms for corporate houses; banquet linen for conventions; bed and bath linens of railways and blankets and seat covers of airline companies.

Centralim will pioneer into linen rentals, mainly to hotels. “Customers can take advantage of our highest quality linen specially made by the best mills in the country. Customers are spared of procuring, storing, managing and laundering their own linen,” Narendran said.

Allure will look after retail operations of the company offering dry cleaning services in cities and towns. “Once our operations are in full stream, we would expand the number of collection centres across the state up to 50,” he said.

M Salahuddin, Chairman, Magnamind Ventures said, “Nellad was chosen considering its proximity to our markets, availability of raw materials and the existence of KINFRA’s own effluent treatment plant”. An in-house effluent-treatment plant as well that will ensure greater pollution controls far beyond the current statutory standards has also been set up, the company said.
