Metlon Corporation, the Cranston, RI-based Authorized Distributor of 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Material, announced today the addition of 5807 Custom Cuttable Transfer Film , the latest Scotchlite reflective material designed to enhance nighttime visibility and safety with an added touch:  customization.  The new product enables customers to simply and affordably add a customized reflective logo or graphic to any type of workwear, from T-shirts to rain gear to accessories.

According to Metlon’s executive vice-president Wayne Etchells, “This new product greatly diversifies the market for 3M and us.”  Typical target markets for both include construction, emergency medical services, law enforcement and transportation. Applications range from vests to primary apparel which includes, T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, etc. “Safety garment manufacturers and designers can now create high quality, customized reflective graphic transfers efficiently and cost-effectively, in variable quantities using most plotter/CAD cutters. The productivity and cost saving advantages of the product could not come at a better time.”

As one of only three nationally based distributors, Metlon supplies a wide variety of reflective roll goods and reflective narrow fabrics for numerous industries and applications, and stocks many of the reflective items used in the making of high visibility shirts, vests, etc.  Recently, in highest demand are those items meeting the ANSI/ISEA 107-2004 standard, including 5807.

Metlon currently stocks 5807 in three (3) standard widths: 12″, 19″, and 24″ for prompt delivery. 5807 is certified to the high visibility retro-reflective standards of ANSI/ISEA 107-2004.

Among the benefits of adding reflective logos or graphics, Etchells sites the ability to enhance worker visibility while establishing a professional image.  Such customization creates “comfortable and distinctive apparel options” while incorporating the 360 degrees of visibility, such as those required by the Federal Highway Administration’s safety mandate as well as by others in the work environment. For example, 5807 logos and graphics can be used to identify the company, its employees and can even differentiate the roles of key workers.

“It greatly enhances the opportunity to integrate customization into the safety garment’s overall design.  And, in using this product, companies also have an ideal opportunity to increase brand awareness while they’re increasing safety.”
