Ron MacDonald, a past PAA president and forever advocate of the Uniform Retailers Association has passed. Ron started with Prestige Medical in 1983 after graduating from UCLA with a passion for music. He was in the marching band and showed his talents as a drummer at one of the URA’s fashion shows (he was the guy in the goofy hat!) Ron advanced to vice president and in 2002 became president of Prestige Medical.

Ron had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. He cared deeply about his family, friends, this industry, and the environment. He had recently launched Venice Beach Apparel, a company dedicated to creating and distributing eco-friendly clothes and uniform apparel. A percentage of its profits go to organizations that clean plastics from the oceans.

Ron’s partner Tony shared these words, “Ron opened my eyes to the world of medical uniforms and supplies. Enthusiastic and curious. His leadership skills were AWEsome. When he returned from sales trips and later more complex work trips, he shared with me so many entertaining stories. I joined him several times on his trips to the southern US and to Europe, especially Ireland. Many of his friends became “our” friends and we were welcomed as they were to stay at each others’ homes. When we hosted “work” events, he bowled me over – everything was just right and I was able to see their affection and regard for him. Let me share that he was the same in all his friendships and activities: family, social, political, and religious.

He was a warm, generous heart and will be sincerely missed. Remembrances may be sent to Oceana.org or URA’s David Nejberger scholarship fund.
