THOUSANDS of Queensland jobs are being lost because Government uniforms are being manufactured overseas.
Within the next few months, Queensland Police uniforms will join the growing list of government workwear being made offshore.
Contracts for the supply of uniforms for nurses, firefighters, ambulance officers, Corrective Services personnel, Queensland Rail staff and the state’s park rangers went to China and Indonesia in 2005.
Up to 25 factories have shut down in Queensland because contracts have gone to companies sourcing uniforms from China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
