Nationwide Uniform Corp. to Expand Operations

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Fechheimer Brothers Co., Nationwide Uniform Corp. announced a $11.5 million investment to expand its operations in Hodgenville and promises to create 63 quality jobs for Kentuckians.

Because of the recent growth of the company, the $11.5 million expansion comes in response with a requirement for an additional warehouse and distribution space. A new 140,000-square-foot distribution center on 9.5 acres of vacant land next to Nationwide’s Hodgenville facility, will be constructed by the leaders at Fechheimer.

Apart from operational activities, this expansion will also be a showpiece for the frequent visits from the company’s extensive customer base. Through this project the company will be able to create 63 full-time jobs. These jobs will be focused on- sewing apparel, cutting fabric, distributing raw materials worldwide and shipping finished goods to customers.

“We are extremely grateful for the assistance of the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development in helping to secure this tax incentive,” said Chris Cundiff, executive vice president of supply chain at Fechheimer.

“This program will support our growth as a company, expanding our Nationwide facility and support of the LaRue County community.”

Since 1842, Fechheimer is a leading manufacturer of uniform apparel in Cincinnati, Ohio and provides uniforms of public safety for police, military, and postal workers under its Flying Cross and Vertx brands.

Fechheimer’s customers include city and state police departments, fire departments, the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Postal Service, the U.S. military branches and most military academies. The company was recently selected to roll out the new Army Service Green Uniform to the U.S. Army. Fechheimer has a corporate office and distribution center in Cincinnati and operation in Hodgenville. It also has a manufacturing plant in Grantsville, Maryland.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) has preliminarily approved a 10-year incentive agreement with Fechheimer under the Kentucky Business Investment program, to encourage investment and job growth in the community. This performance-based agreement can provide up to $800,000 in tax incentives based on Fechheimer’s investment of $11.5 million and annual targets of:

  • Creating and maintaining 63 full-time jobs across 10 years for Kentucky residents and;
  • Paying an average hourly wage of $22.44, which includes benefits across those jobs.

By meeting its annual targets, the company can be eligible to keep a portion of the new tax revenue it generates. Apart from that, Fechheimer Brothers Co. can receive resources from Kentucky’s workforce service providers.

About Fechheimer Brothers Co.

Fechheimer Brothers Company, began the journey of manufacturing the world’s most trusted uniforms for public safety in 1842. Solomon “Samuel” Fechheimer, a German immigrant, opened a small dry goods store in Cincinnati, OH. Samuel combined adventure and passion, seeking out opportunities to grow his business and give back through his trade. With the beginning of the Civil War, Samuel honed his father’s legacy and craftsmanship of making clothing, to secure the United States government contract to supply uniforms for soldiers in the North and South. This feat marked the beginning of Fechheimers’ commitment to innovation by standardizing men’s uniform sizes for the first time ever in American history.
