NZ Post launches new uniforms

With a new look the posties and couriers of NZ Post will be looking lighter and brighter when they knock on your door this Christmas.

New orange and blue uniforms are being incorporated (keeping in mind the new branding of NZ Post) ditching the yellow and red ones.

According to NZ Post chief people officer Monica Ayers, the new uniforms align with the new branding being rolled out on packaging, vehicles and NZ Post properties, as well as significantly increasing visibility for safety.

“Our people have been delivering for New Zealanders for 180 years, and we’ve seen a huge amount of change over that time,” she said.

“The uniforms worn by our mail carriers and couriers are a reflection of the times. The new uniform is modern, breathable, sustainable and focused foremost on the safety of our delivery teams – which is hugely important to us.”

The new delivery uniform includes- a short-sleeved polo shirt, a long-sleeved polo, shorts, trackpants and fleece. For colder months there is a reversible high-vis puffer jacket, with removable sleeves to create a puffer vest and also a full wet weather gear.

Mail carrier is NZ Post's old uniform

Industrial Mark Godoy, Workwear Group senior designer said that he was proud to be involved in designing and producing NZ Post’s new uniforms.

“We started with a clear position that safety was at the forefront of the design, and compliance with established New Zealand safety standards was non-negotiable. The new uniform has high visibility day and night as well offering climate control and a comfortable fit.”

After 11 years the NZ Post delivery uniform will be getting a makeover.

“The new uniforms have been made with sustainability in mind. As our NZ Post posties and couriers begin to wear the new-look uniform, old uniforms will be returned so they can be recycled.”

“We have partnered with a recycling team who reuse and recycle materials into soft fiber which can be used for insulation, furniture, and more,” Ayers said.

NZ Post delivery uniforms have always been up-to-date with current fabric technology, contemporary fashion trends, and changes in society, for over 100 years.
